Boon Brokers was not always the online tech-focused brokerage that it is today. Our business came from humble beginnings. This is our story, which starts in 2003…
Michael, the father of our current Managing Director, established Business Matters in 2003. The business offered mortgage and insurance services with just one administrative staff member. Michael’s focus was on offering expert face-to-face advice to clients in East Anglia.
Despite plenty of skepticism from other professionals in the industry, Michael took a stand against broker fees. He removed all broker fees from his service and continued to offer an excellent service.
The Global Financial Crisis hit the UK Housing Market. Michael stayed resilient and stuck to his business principles. In spite of the significant challenges during that time, Michael kept the business afloat and was able to maintain his fee-free, face-to-face, service.
A significant milestone for Michael, who was largely operating as a one-man band in one region of the country.
Michael’s son, Gerard, graduated from the University of Leeds, and joined the business. Gerard achieved his Certificate in Mortgage Advice & Practice (CeMAP) and his Certificate in Regulated Equity Release (CeRER) and began advising clients.
Michael Boon phased out of the business and Gerard took over as Managing Partner. To make his mark, Gerard rebranded the business from Business Matters to Boon Brokers.
Having invested in a bespoke Client Profile System, Database and Website, Boon Brokers Launched its own software. The productivity of the business sharply improved as a result of these investments.
After Covid-19 struck the UK, Boon Brokers was forced to switch from face-to-face to remote operations. If it were not for the investments made in that same year, to facilitate an online service, the business would have almost certainly gone bust.
Boon Brokers continued to shift away from regional marketing to online national coverage. The focus switched to offering highly informative content online for all clients and consumers.
Having significantly expanded the team and its operations nationally, Boon Brokers hit another significant milestone.
The business changed from a Partnership to Limited Company legal entity. Boon Brokers Limited received Directly Authorised Status from the FCA – Number: 973757.
Boon Brokers hit this enormous milestone in 2024. The company is now regarded as one of the most reputable online brokerages across the country and continues to grow in pursuit of its mission.
